LAW & ETHICS

In journalism, ethics have proven to be more important now than ever. Journalists have a duty to pursue the truth and report on it fairly and appropriately, but they can sometimes face legal issues. This is why laws and policies are put in place as a set of guidelines and principles for by which a news organization operates.

In recent years at The Vision, we’ve realized that such policies have never been laid out. As a result, using the Journalism Education Association's Model Editorial Policy as a template, the editors have taken it upon ourselves to write a publication policy which, from now on, will be used as the primary guide to all the moving parts of The Vision. It is currently under review by the administration and will be posted on the school website.
